When Hasbro released the first batch of action figures for its GI Joe "A Real American Hero" brand, the company faced an unexpected problem: it was over budget.
To cut costs, they decided to use an unpainted figure, put a mask on him to avoid details on his face, and called him a "ninja."
This is how Snake Eyes came about, and surprisingly, he became the best-selling toy since the figures were released and a favorite character among GI Joe fans. This is a clear example of how creativity can be more important than a big budget (although a bigger budget helps too).
